Smoke season
Some late summers bring wildfire smoke for days at a time. Locals run air purifiers, watch the air-quality maps, and keep a coast trip in their back pocket.
Drive times from Grants Pass
Medford about 35 minutes. Medford airport about 35. Jacksonville about 40. Ashland about 45. Crescent City and the coast about 2 hours on Highway 199. Portland about 4 hours 20 minutes.
Airports
Rogue Valley International–Medford (MFR) is about 30 minutes from Grants Pass, with nonstop flights to major West Coast hubs. Grants Pass also has a general aviation airport.
Healthcare hubs
Asante Three Rivers Medical Center in Grants Pass. Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center and Providence Medford Medical Center in Medford. Asante Ashland, an emergency and outpatient campus, in Ashland.
